Coming in two 10-watt versions, this is designed to be an amp that fits around the lifestyle of the modern guitarist. Built around the idea that most amps are just too loud to be useful at home, this is best suited to the bedroom, living room or even on the move (with 8 AA batteries). Using Yamaha’s virtual circuitry modeling technology, you can select 5 different amp types, from a clean Fender-esque sound, to a filthy high gain Marshall tone, and everything in between. The THR10 model has the addition of three other amps, including bass, acoustic and flat. Both amps have a range of effects, such as chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, delay and reverb, and a built-in tuner. The amp is also in stereo, meaning it can be used as a hi-fi for playing along to music, or just listening to it, and a USB connection allows you to use it as a recording interface, and also tweak various amp settings such as its compressor and noise gate. This amp is great for home practice, and does everything a guitarist might need at home. Don’t be fooled by the design as it may look like an amp head, but this actually has two 8cm speakers inside, and can work all on its own.
